How to Be a Happy Human – Top Ten Tips from Our Dogs by Robin Palmer @MyWakeUPCalls.com

I am a huge dog and animal lover. These are lessons I have learned from my dogs. -

1. Stay in this moment – right here, right now. The present is a gift.

2. KISS - Keep it Simple Sweetheart. Be grateful that you have a roof over your head and enough food for today. Everything else is just gravy.

3. Appoint yourself the welcoming committee. Every time someone from your pack comes back home, give them a hero's welcome. Let them know that they are the most important person on the planet to you, and shower them with kisses.

For extra credit, jump up and down, doing the Yippee Dance, and then run circles of love around them! J

4.  There is always time for a belly rub.

5. Go for a walk twice a day. Studies show that you rejuvenate and re-focus your energy when you walk outside, especially around nature. Inhale the fresh air, listen to the birds, take in the scenery, soak in the vitamin D from the sun, and relax your mind. Think of it as a walking meditation - just walk and breathe, and shake off the stress.

6. Take a nap. A 20 to 30-minute nap can improve your mood, make you more alert, and help you to perform better. Sleep deprivation has reached epidemic proportions. Snuggle up with your dog, your perfect role model for sound sleep.

7. Greet the day with an up and downward dog, two familiar Yoga stretches. Dr. Oz says one of the best things you can do for your body is to stretch before you get out of bed every morning. Your body can tighten up over night while you sleep. Especially as you get older, it's best to wake up and stretch before you get out of bed in the morning. This is why I included gentle stretches in bed with My Workout Wake UP Call – Motivational Alarm Clock Messages.

So start your day with an up and downward dog or two. Watch your dog for instructions.

8. Walk or run barefoot in the grass or in the sand every chance you get. The electrons in the earth optimize your immune system, which you receive through your bare feet. This is my dogs’ #1 favorite activity.
9. Shake off stress. Get unstuck by shifting your energy with a full body shake. Follow your dog's lead, and let it go.

I was honored to participate at the recent Hidden Riches Experience event in San Diego, hosted by renowned thought leaders and My Wake UP Call® “Messengers,” Chris and Janet Attwood – My Wake UP Call to Passion, Marci Shimoff – My Wake UP Call to Love, and Debra Poneman – My Wake UP Call to Success messages.

Deva Premal and Miten were among the list of luminaries who took the stage that weekend. Being one of their millions of fans around the planet, I was thrilled to get to be up close and personal with them.

After singing for us, Janet asked them how they manage to stay grounded, while flying around the globe on their non-stop World Tour. They shared that they start every day by grounding themselves. They literally shaking off stress from their bodies for 15-minutes every morning, and taught us how to shake it off, too.

I love this practice and now shake off stress every day, whenever I feel the need. Sometimes I shake it off right along with my canine role models.

10. Be your man’s (or woman’s) best friend. When a human in your house looks sad or stressed, go give them a kiss. If they bark at you in a moment of stress, show them some unconditional love. Give them a couple of minutes to cool down, and then go snuggle up in their lap. After all, they are only human.

Bonus Tip - Our dogs’ names are Hope and Faith. (Their middle names are both Charity.) Repeating their names regularly every day reminds me to have Hope and Faith…and that I do!

Please feel free to share these Top Ten Tips with fellow dog lovers!

My Workout with Fitness Guru Richard Simmons - by Robin Palmer - Inventor of My Workout Wake UP Call @MyWakeUpCalls.com

Enjoy My @Huffington Post Article:

My Workout with Fitness Guru Richard Simmons - from Robin Palmer - inventor of My Workout Wake UP Call - Motivational Alarm Clock Messages - @www.MyWorkoutWakeUpCall.com and @www.MyWakeUPCalls.com

Working out with Richard Simmons is SO MUCH FUN! If you are in the LA area, you have to check out his classes at his studio in Beverly Hills - definitely the most fun I have ever had in an exercise class! - Picture the exact opposite experience of a tranquil yoga workout.  I laughed so hard at Richard's antics during class that I could feel my abs working overtime.  I get to skip crunches tomorrow.

Underneath his campy exterior, Richard Simmons has a heart of gold. He actually asked for silence, then turned to me and asked, "Who are you? You have such a gentle spirit."  I replied with my name.  Richard asked if I do voice-over work and I told him that I had starred in Broadway musicals for 15 years. So, when he asked which shows I had done, I responded that I had played Linda Ronstadt's sister in The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline, had co-starred with David Cassidy in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and had sung Memory in CATS.  And then, standing in the middle of about 200 sweaty exercise enthusiasts, Richard asked me to sing Memory. So I belted out a few bars, at which Richard and the class applauded enthusiastically.

He asked what I do now and I told him and my fellow "sweaters" that I had invented My Workout Wake UP Call - Motivational Alarm Clock Messages -- patented, daily 5-minute messages that motivate listeners to wake up and workout, for which I received another round of heartwarming praise. Then, as instructed, we picked up our weights and carried on with the class.

I wasn't the only one who was touched by Richard's openhearted kindness. At the end of class, he called up two women to the front of the studio who were celebrating their birthdays today and gave both of them birthday gifts.

And then Richard gave all of us a gift straight from his heart. He said he was aware that some people in the class had been hurt by people who had never apologized for doing them wrong, and that they were still hanging on to the hope they would someday receive an apology.

Richard said, "Often those people who haven't asked for our forgiveness still haven't forgiven themselves for hurting us. So how could we expect an apology, when they haven't even forgiven themselves?"
So, simply and powerfully, Richard told them that he was so sorry they had been hurt, and asked his students to forgive and let go of holding on to the hurt. I glanced around the room and noticed that many of my classmates had tears in their eyes.

Richard Simmons "Sweat" class was my fantasy exercise class -- a real full body workout, inside and out. If my abdominal muscles were not sore from laughing so much, I'd think I had been dreaming!

Enjoy a Daily Tip from My Workout Wake UP Call Motivational Alarm Clock Messages!

Enjoy one of the daily tips from My Workout Wake UP Call Motivational Alarm Clock Messages!
Dr. Oz says that stretching in bed is the best thing you can do for your body when you wake up every morning. Here’s a stretch you can do before you get out of bed:
While lying on your back, hug your knees up to your chest and then bring the soles of your feet together, holding your feet with your hands. Gently let your knees open out to the sides. Inhale slowly for three counts. And exhale slowly for three counts, gently increasing the stretch. You may use your elbows to press against your knees, for an even greater stretch, if you’d like. Again, inhale slowly for three counts and exhale slowly for three counts. And once more, inhale for three counts and exhale for three counts.
Ahhhh! Good morning! :)

There are great benefits to stretching in bed in the morning. Stretching loosens up your body and unlocks any joints that may have tightened up during the night. It also gently warms up your body, so you can wake up and work out more easily. Research shows that you have a much better chance of actually working out before your schedule kicks in for the day. Your metabolism benefits the most when you boost it at the beginning of your day, instead of in the evening. And, for some people, exercising in the evening interferes with their sleep cycle.

I couldn’t find it anywhere, so I created it myself!

Robin Palmer - Why She Created MY WAKE UP CALL Motivational Alarm Clock Messages

Robin Palmer - Why She Created MY WAKE UP CALL Motivational Alarm Clock Messages (MyWakeUpCalls.net)

Robin (Boudreau) Palmer performed leading roles in Broadway Musicals for fifteen years. Some favorites include playing Linda Ronstadt’s little sister in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE with Kevin Kline, co-starring opposite David Cassidy in JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, and singing Memory in CATS.

Four years ago, with a family and a typical, hectic lifestyle, Robin kept wishing for an affordable personal trainer to motivate her to wake up and work out each morning, before the day’s schedule started. The trainer had to say something different every day, and had to be someone whom her husband would not mind being in their bedroom with them when they woke up in the morning!

Robin created My Wake Up Call® Motivational Alarm Clock Messages, which awaken you each morning with positive, five-minute motivating messages instead of an annoying buzzer or the often alarming news on the radio!

Each month of messages is downloadable for your iPhone/Smartphone or iPod, or on CDs, or is included Free with My Wake Up Call® iPod or CD Alarm Clocks. My Wake Up Call® also has a free iPhone App.

Maria Shriver recently gave My Wake Up Call® Motivational Alarm Clocks to the VIPs at The Women’s Conference, including First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Oz, Anthony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, and many of the nation’s leading CEOs! My Wake Up Call® has also been featured in SHAPE, SELF, Oxygen, Woman’s World, on NBC TV and Fox News.

Someone asked me today where I was on 9/11 and how had it changed me.

Someone asked me today where I was on 9/11 and how had it changed me. I have never written about my experience with 9/11 before today. I guess I was ready to let it go, out from the place where I had tucked it away.
I lived and worked in NYC and was scheduled to attend our monthly sales meeting there that morning, with my former employer. The night before, he cancelled our monthly sales meeting, which he had never done before. He told us to go vote in the primary elections instead, which is what I was attempting to do when the second plane hit. I was listening to the news on my walkman, while waiting to check in with the elderly woman sitting at the desk at my designated voting place, (a public grade school cafeteria.) I got to her desk as the second plane hit and exclaimed, “Oh, my gosh. We’re being attacked by terrorists!” At which point, she thought I was insane, and told me she’d have me removed from the premises if I said anything like that again. “This is an election, and we cannot allow it to be disturbed.” Still listening to the news through one ear of my headphones, I told her, “But we are being attacked by terrorists.” She pointed to the door and told me to “get out.” Who could blame her? I sounded insane. Real insanity greeted me on the streets when I walked out of the grade school. Mayhem. Zombies. No one seemed to be in their bodies.

I couldn’t find a cab and started walking up the west side highway. I hitchhiked my way out of the city that day to my sister’s house in NJ. A crisis can definitely bring out the kindness in strangers. A kind gentleman picked me up and drove an hour out of his way to her home in Kinnelon.
God whispers, then he talks to you, then he blows the whistle! I always swore if I was ever brave enough, I would pack myself up and move to sunny California. 9/11 was a long, loud whistle in my ear. I got brave enough. I accepted a job in breathtakingly beautiful Westlake Village, CA. I had lived in and around NYC my entire life. I bought a PT Cruiser with a stick shift and practiced driving from New York to Los Angeles. I drove for four days and was pretty good by the time I hit L.A., thankfully.

Well, that just poured out of me!

By the way, I got married at 45, to a fellow New Yorker I met out here at our local gym. Our paths
had crossed several times before, without having met each other until that day at the gym. One example: I had starred in Broadway shows for 15 years and my husband had seen me play Linda Ronstadt’s sister in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE with Kevin Kline. I remember the night he was there because he was sitting directly in front of Jack Nicholson, who happened to be in the audience that night. I had peeked from behind the curtain before the show started, to get a good look at Mr. Nicholson.

I also invented a product, which is my other, “If I am ever brave enough…”

And the rest, as they say, is history!

10 Tips to Wake Up Feeling Well!

10 Tips to Wake Up
Feeling Well!

  1. Limber Up
  2. Laugh
  3. Move
  4. Meditate
  5. Be Grateful
  6. Hydrate yourself
  7. Gather your energy
  8. Let in the light
  9. Affirm yourself
  10. Awaken to pleasant sounds
Mind Body Connections--
When I feel stiff or cold in the morning, I'm slow to get out of bed.  Before I get out of bed, I know I need to do something to coax my body into a more cooperative state.  I was recently reminded of the value of stretching while I'm still in bed.  I first stretch and massage my arms, then my legs and feet and finally my back.

TIP FROM DR.OZ* "Rule #7: Start Your Day by Stretching
It is so important to begin each morning by stretching. You want to keep your body warm and loosened up every day, to prevent injury. Taj George suggests an exaggerated yawn, where you first take your arms up and inhale. From there, you can bend back or come forward, all the way down to touch your toes, breathe in and slowly come back up."

The stretching movements bring warmth to my muscles and joints (they feel better).  I begin breathing more deeply, and as my circulation picks up I feel alert.  After stretching for a few minutes, I'll notice that my body will convince my mind that it really is a good idea to get up and start the day.

Most of us have gotten used to waking up to a jarring
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP sound  or "alarming" news on the radio, as the alarm clock goes off in the morning.  Now you have a better way to start your day.  Now, you can awaken each morning with positive energy!

My Wake Up Call® was designed to help people achieve their goals and dreams (starting first thing in the morning).
