Top Ten Ways to Keep Off Those Extra Pounds During the Holidays!

At this time of year, I've been focused on keeping off those extra pounds from all of the holiday celebrations. During these times, I am especially grateful for the guidance and support I get from my good friend, weight loss expert and #1 NY Times best-selling author, Victoria Moran!

I've been waking up every morning with My Weight Loss for Life Motivational Alarm Clock
® Messages - Victoria's personal success tips that helped her to lose over 60 pounds and maintain her weight loss for over two decades!

Here are some tips from Victoria's Top Ten Ways to Lose Weight for Life to help you to stay healthy and trim during the holidays and always!

1. Get lots of greens in your diet. Romaine, broccoli, arugula, collards, romaine, and the rest can be steamed, sauteed, tossed as salads, blended as soup or green smoothies, or juiced into something luscious like the Green Goddess: celery, kale, apple, and lemon.

2. Experiment with a variety of kinds of movement until you discover ways to stay active that make you happy. Try walking, dancing, yoga, weight training, and maybe some sport you enjoyed as a child.

3. Make friends with healthy people whose own lives will reflect your healthy lifestyle back to you.

Happy healthy holidays to you and your loved ones!

My Workout with Fitness Guru Richard Simmons - by Robin Palmer - Inventor of My Workout Wake UP Call @MyWakeUpCalls.com

Enjoy My @Huffington Post Article:

My Workout with Fitness Guru Richard Simmons - from Robin Palmer - inventor of My Workout Wake UP Call - Motivational Alarm Clock Messages - @www.MyWorkoutWakeUpCall.com and @www.MyWakeUPCalls.com

Working out with Richard Simmons is SO MUCH FUN! If you are in the LA area, you have to check out his classes at his studio in Beverly Hills - definitely the most fun I have ever had in an exercise class! - Picture the exact opposite experience of a tranquil yoga workout.  I laughed so hard at Richard's antics during class that I could feel my abs working overtime.  I get to skip crunches tomorrow.

Underneath his campy exterior, Richard Simmons has a heart of gold. He actually asked for silence, then turned to me and asked, "Who are you? You have such a gentle spirit."  I replied with my name.  Richard asked if I do voice-over work and I told him that I had starred in Broadway musicals for 15 years. So, when he asked which shows I had done, I responded that I had played Linda Ronstadt's sister in The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline, had co-starred with David Cassidy in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and had sung Memory in CATS.  And then, standing in the middle of about 200 sweaty exercise enthusiasts, Richard asked me to sing Memory. So I belted out a few bars, at which Richard and the class applauded enthusiastically.

He asked what I do now and I told him and my fellow "sweaters" that I had invented My Workout Wake UP Call - Motivational Alarm Clock Messages -- patented, daily 5-minute messages that motivate listeners to wake up and workout, for which I received another round of heartwarming praise. Then, as instructed, we picked up our weights and carried on with the class.

I wasn't the only one who was touched by Richard's openhearted kindness. At the end of class, he called up two women to the front of the studio who were celebrating their birthdays today and gave both of them birthday gifts.

And then Richard gave all of us a gift straight from his heart. He said he was aware that some people in the class had been hurt by people who had never apologized for doing them wrong, and that they were still hanging on to the hope they would someday receive an apology.

Richard said, "Often those people who haven't asked for our forgiveness still haven't forgiven themselves for hurting us. So how could we expect an apology, when they haven't even forgiven themselves?"
So, simply and powerfully, Richard told them that he was so sorry they had been hurt, and asked his students to forgive and let go of holding on to the hurt. I glanced around the room and noticed that many of my classmates had tears in their eyes.

Richard Simmons "Sweat" class was my fantasy exercise class -- a real full body workout, inside and out. If my abdominal muscles were not sore from laughing so much, I'd think I had been dreaming!

Dr. Oz Says Stretching in Bed is the Best Gift You Can Give Your Body Each Morning (MyWakeUPCalls.com)

Dr. Oz says that stretching in bed is the best gift you can give your body each morning. Here is a stretch you can do when you first wake up:

Lying on your stomach, place the palms of your hands on the bed next to your waist. Inhale for three counts and arch your upper body up, looking at the ceiling with your eyes, while pressing into your hands and straightening your arms. Exhale for three counts and lower back down on the bed. Inhale for three counts, press up, and arch your upper back, exhale, and lower back down on the bed. And, once more, inhaling for three counts and arching up, eyes to the ceiling and exhale for three counts and relax back down. Ahhhh! Good morning, body!

There are many reasons to stretch in bed in the morning. You loosen up your body and unlock any joints that may have tightened up during the night. Stretching also gently warms up your body, so you can wake up and work out more easily. Research shows that you have a much better chance of actually fitting in a workout when you exercise before your daily schedule kicks in. Your metabolism also benefits the most when you elevate it at the start of your day. Lastly, some people have a difficult time falling asleep after exercising in the evening.

Victoria Moran Shares the Value of "M.E." in My Weight Loss for Life Wake UP Call Messages

My Weight Loss for Life Wake UP Call
Motivational Alarm Clock Messages with Victoria Moran
In one of my favorite My Weight Loss for Life Wake UP Call messages from best-selling author, Oprah Show guest and coach, Victoria Moran, she shares her favorite acronym: M.E. She asks, “Who are you going to take care first thing every day? – ME! And how will you do that? – M-E: “m” for meditation, “e” for exercise.”
Victoria goes on to discuss her own experience with meditation. (She shares her tips on exercising in another My Weight Loss for Life Wake UP Call® message.) When Victoria was in her 20s and struggling terribly with food and weight, and looking everywhere for help, she wandered into a Christian Science Reading Room. The man there suggested meditation. She remembered thinking, “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about: that doesn’t burn any calories.” She says that she was voraciously consuming food she didn’t need in a vain attempt to calm herself down and block out feelings she didn’t want to feel. Victoria realized, “That wise man was trying to give me a way to get calmness, and peace, and the courage to be with those uncomfortable feelings and not have to eat to stuff them down.

Meditation can do that. It also boosts your immunity, improves your relationships, and makes you younger. No kidding! A research study found that people who meditated regularly for 5 years or longer were, on average, 12 years younger physiologically that the control group that didn’t meditate. This is pretty amazing stuff & it works when you work it.

So here’s what you can do. Commit that this morning, and every morning for the next thirty days, you’re going to take some quiet time. Serious meditators go 20 minutes, but starting with ten or even five minutes is okay.
You can certainly use your quiet time the way you want: for prayer, or writing in a journal, or for the formal meditation that all those studies show is beneficial on so many levels. You simply pick a focal point and bring your awareness back to that word or phrase as you sit quietly and breathe slowly.

You can try “I’m okay as I am.” (inhale “I’m okay,” exhale “as I am.”) Or a phrase I use a lot is: “All is well.” I inhale, “All is…” and exhale, “well.” Try that a few times. Breathe in, “All is,” and breathe out “well.” …It’s nice, isn’t it? Once you get into the habit, you can get to this beautiful place in your own psyche with just a few slow, deep breaths in the midst a busy or stressful day.

You can do this at that time of day when you often reach for something to eat that you wish you hadn’t… or at stoplights… or when your boss or your teenager is pushing all your buttons. This is your internal magic wand for going from upset to reset.

It’s okay that your mind wanders. Just bring it back. Keep breathing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Because, like you and me and the rest of us, it’s already perfect, just the way it is.”
