How to Be a Happy Human – Top Ten Tips from Our Dogs by Robin Palmer @MyWakeUPCalls.com

I am a huge dog and animal lover. These are lessons I have learned from my dogs. -

1. Stay in this moment – right here, right now. The present is a gift.

2. KISS - Keep it Simple Sweetheart. Be grateful that you have a roof over your head and enough food for today. Everything else is just gravy.

3. Appoint yourself the welcoming committee. Every time someone from your pack comes back home, give them a hero's welcome. Let them know that they are the most important person on the planet to you, and shower them with kisses.

For extra credit, jump up and down, doing the Yippee Dance, and then run circles of love around them! J

4.  There is always time for a belly rub.

5. Go for a walk twice a day. Studies show that you rejuvenate and re-focus your energy when you walk outside, especially around nature. Inhale the fresh air, listen to the birds, take in the scenery, soak in the vitamin D from the sun, and relax your mind. Think of it as a walking meditation - just walk and breathe, and shake off the stress.

6. Take a nap. A 20 to 30-minute nap can improve your mood, make you more alert, and help you to perform better. Sleep deprivation has reached epidemic proportions. Snuggle up with your dog, your perfect role model for sound sleep.

7. Greet the day with an up and downward dog, two familiar Yoga stretches. Dr. Oz says one of the best things you can do for your body is to stretch before you get out of bed every morning. Your body can tighten up over night while you sleep. Especially as you get older, it's best to wake up and stretch before you get out of bed in the morning. This is why I included gentle stretches in bed with My Workout Wake UP Call – Motivational Alarm Clock Messages.

So start your day with an up and downward dog or two. Watch your dog for instructions.

8. Walk or run barefoot in the grass or in the sand every chance you get. The electrons in the earth optimize your immune system, which you receive through your bare feet. This is my dogs’ #1 favorite activity.
9. Shake off stress. Get unstuck by shifting your energy with a full body shake. Follow your dog's lead, and let it go.

I was honored to participate at the recent Hidden Riches Experience event in San Diego, hosted by renowned thought leaders and My Wake UP Call® “Messengers,” Chris and Janet Attwood – My Wake UP Call to Passion, Marci Shimoff – My Wake UP Call to Love, and Debra Poneman – My Wake UP Call to Success messages.

Deva Premal and Miten were among the list of luminaries who took the stage that weekend. Being one of their millions of fans around the planet, I was thrilled to get to be up close and personal with them.

After singing for us, Janet asked them how they manage to stay grounded, while flying around the globe on their non-stop World Tour. They shared that they start every day by grounding themselves. They literally shaking off stress from their bodies for 15-minutes every morning, and taught us how to shake it off, too.

I love this practice and now shake off stress every day, whenever I feel the need. Sometimes I shake it off right along with my canine role models.

10. Be your man’s (or woman’s) best friend. When a human in your house looks sad or stressed, go give them a kiss. If they bark at you in a moment of stress, show them some unconditional love. Give them a couple of minutes to cool down, and then go snuggle up in their lap. After all, they are only human.

Bonus Tip - Our dogs’ names are Hope and Faith. (Their middle names are both Charity.) Repeating their names regularly every day reminds me to have Hope and Faith…and that I do!

Please feel free to share these Top Ten Tips with fellow dog lovers!

The Miracle of Faith - Our Dog

Our Dog Faith’s Miraculous Healing

Hope and Faith Palmer are our beloved nine-year-old Maltese dogs. I have become the kind of devoutly passionate dog and animal lover that I used to judge, - “How can you love your animals that much?! What about your children?!”

Our dogs, Hope and Faith, (both of their middle names are Charity), light up my heart every day and remind me what matters.

One day last winter, seemingly out of nowhere, we noticed a very large bulge in the back of Faith’s neck. And just as suddenly, every time she tried to walk, she immediately fell over onto her side, helpless to get back up again.

I responded with the predictability of Pavlov’s dog. Every time I saw Faith lying there helpless, unable to get back up, my eyes would well up with tears. I'd pick her up, and pray for a miracle.

My husband and I took her to our veterinarian, one of the most patient and positive physicians I have ever met. Whenever I had brought Hope and Faith to her with a hurt hip or food allergies, she had always calmed and reassured me with her smiling demeanor and holistic remedies.

Not this time. Usually upbeat and chatty, our vet examined Faith’s large hump in utter silence. She asked if we could take Faith to the hallway behind the examination room to watch Faith walk. Our vet stood at one end of the hallway and asked us to walk towards her. Faith tried to take a step towards the good doctor, and fell over on her side. I carried my crippled dog back to the examination room.

Our vet closed the door and handed me a box of tissues. She said she believed that Faith had a herniated disk, which was blocking her mobility, and recommended surgery. She suggested that we get a second opinion from a specialist, and referred us to a leading animal neurologist in Los Angeles.

When we arrived at the specialist’s office the following day, she asked if she could borrow Faith for some tests, and said they would return shortly. Faith fixed her on me as she disappeared down the hallway in the arms of this stranger.

I prayed and paced. Tom sat, trying to appear calm, holding onto Hope in his lap. When they returned, the neurologist stoically remarked, “Faith has a very sweet demeanor,” and then launched into her recommendation for surgery.

With only a 50% success rate, Faith would also have to be sedated and motionless in a small pen to recuperate from the surgery for six-weeks. When I asked the specialist about Faith's quality of life during her recuperation weeks, she responded that, if the surgery worked, Faith would have a better quality of life once she fully recovered from it...as long as it worked.

All I could hear was that still small voice inside of me screaming at the top of its lungs, "No! Just say no! Dear God, there must be a better way!”

I begged. I bargained. I Googled. Determined to find a humane healing for Faith, I schlepped her to an animal acupuncturist and a pet masseur, without any noticeable results.

Months earlier, I had joined Marci Shimoff, Janet Attwood, and Debra Poneman, my friends and the author-narrators of My Wake UP Call to Love, My Wake UP Call to Passion, and My Wake UPCall to Success Motivational Alarm Clock Messages, at a Pranic Healing weekend workshop in Los Angeles. Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. Pranic Healing practitioners learn to send healing energy through their hands with their unique no-touch healing modality.

Having personally experienced its healing benefits, I decided to ask two local Pranic Healers, Ellen and Ray Morano, if they thought they could heal a dog. They responded, "Absolutely. Pranic Healing works with all living beings."

I brought Faith to one of the free weekly Pranic Healing clinics in the Los Angeles area. Ray suggested that I sit down and hold Faith in my lap. He said a silent prayer and began holding his hands a few inches above Faith’s bulging vertebrae. After several minutes, he said, “The lump is gone! “ I asked incredulously. “The lump is gone?!”

Ray responded matter-of-factly, as though he was not describing a modern day miracle, “Yes, the lump is gone."

Wow! Ray was right! The lump was completely gone! Ray suggested that I put Faith on the floor to let her walk. I lifted her from my lap, put her on the floor, and watch her scamper away, as if her neurological nightmare had just been a bad dream.

Three months later in Santa Monica, a Pit-bull mix ran out of nearby apartment and grabbed Faith at the nape of her neck, and started shaking her like a rag doll. I've since learned that this is how they render their victims helpless, by first breaking their necks.

I started shrieking somewhat incoherently, “Jesus, please help us!! Jesus!! Help!!” The Pit-bull owner came running out, and pried open the dog’s mouth, with the help of my husband. Faith landed on the ground, shaking like a leaf.

But, miraculously, her neck had not been broken by the Pit-bull! Faith shook for two straight days. She had two black and blue marks – and that was it! I kept feeling that Pranic Healing had somehow super fortified her neck three months earlier!

Now, Faith only has only side effect from the Pit-bull attack. Every time she first meets a large dog, she barks defensively, as if to say, “Don’t you dare mess with me!”

For the record, I am not affiliated with Pranic Healing. I am, however, wholeheartedly grateful for Faith’s miraculous healing, and believe in paying it forward by sharing it with you, just like Janet Attwood, Marci Shimoff and Debra Poneman did for me.

Enjoy My Post @HuffingtonPost.com - Got Gas? My Road Trip to Dreamforce in San Francisco

Enjoy my new post @HuffingtonPost.com!

I was so excited to attend Dreamforce in San Francisco this year, along with 130,000 other tech enthusiasts from all over the globe. The annual conference is hosted by Salesforce, with CEO, Marc Benioff as the Master of Ceremonies. This year's keynotes included Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer, Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, thought leaders Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Wayne Dyer, among other luminaries.

I decided to drive, so I could include a couple of meetings on the way back. Midway from LA to San Francisco, I was startled to see that my gas tank was on empty. I had filled it up the day before my trip, and wondered how I had not noticed the low fuel indicator light. As soon as I started looking for signs of a gas station, I passed a freeway sign that read, "Next Gas Station - 20 Miles." Yikes! I said a prayer, and exited the freeway in search of a local gas station.
I pulled over and reached for my trusty apps. I Yelped. I Googled. I Mapquested. Just like the sign said, it looked like it was 20 miles to the nearest supply of petroleum.

Surrounded by farm fields, I pulled up to the one and only building in sight. The sign said, "T & A Shipping." My only reference for T & A harks back to my days on Broadway. In the song, Dance 10, Looks 3, from the mega-hit musical, A Chorus Line, one of the female dancers sings praises for her new "tits and ass," and raves that her new assets are helping her to get noticed at casting calls. I hoped that T & A Shipping was transporting something else, and went to look for help.

I yelled into the silence, "Hello! Is anyone here?!"
A man with a kind face popped out from around the corner. He had his phone in his hands and had been taking photos of the huge beautiful rainbow above our heads. I hoped that the rainbow was a sign. I had just driven through a torrential downpour. At the very least, I felt reassured to know that I wouldn't drown in a flood today.
The man asked, "Are you Ok?" I told him that my fuel indicator was at the bottom of the empty range, and asked if he could direct me to the closest gas station. "Well... it's about 20 miles from here." Being a girl from the big city, I smiled and insisted that we were obviously having a misunderstanding of some kind. There has to be a gas station in the vicinity!

He smiled knowingly, like he's been through this conversation before, and replied,"Nope. The closest gas station is 20 miles from here." I took a deep cleansing breathe. I asked, "Can I pay you for enough gas to get me to the closest gas station?" He replied that they only used diesel in their trucks, and my PT Cruiser could not digest diesel fuel.

OK - On to Plan C. "Can you tell me where we are?" The man disappeared into the building and came out with their address written in magic marker on a piece of paper. We were in Cantua Creek, [7] as in "U-a-can't" get there from here without gas in your tank!

I took another deep breath, found my AAA card, and made the call. I pay extra money for AAA+. AAA's extended coverage area plan, which I was hoping covered farmland. The operator tried unsuccessfully to locate my whereabouts on her map, and transferred me to another operator in another call center. The second operator told me that the address I had just spelled out for her from my piece of paper did not exist. Uh-oh...
Just when I realized that my deep breathing had morphed into hyperventilating, the man told me he would be right back and disappeared into the building again. I steadied myself, and hung in there with the AAA+ operator, while she searched for my whereabouts.
The man came back with his co-worker, who was carrying a gas can!! "Wow! Thank you so much!" I hugged them, and called it quits with the AAA operator, who was still trying to determine our general location.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-palmer/on-the-road-to-dreamforce_b_4326813.html
The good Samaritans, Mario and Francisco, kindly poured the priceless petrol into my tank. Then they started my engine to make sure that the fuel level indicator registered enough gas to get me to the gas station. I tried a couple of times to pay them, and they would not accept payment! Wow!!
I wanted to thank them for their kind generosity. So I told them about my invention,
My Wake UP Call® Motivational Alarm Clock® Messages and My Good Night Messages
and gave them download codes for complimentary months of messages.

And then Mario and Francisco gave me a big portion of what I call, "Soul Food."They both looked so touched that I had wanted to "bless them back." They received my gratitude gift with such openhearted appreciation that I got "God bumps."
I hugged my new friends, and got into my car to get back on the road. Francisco told me not to leave and ran back into the building. A minute later, he came out with a box filled with his freshly picked lettuce. T & A Shipping transported lettuce around the country!
The lettuce is really delicious and a great reminder. "Let us" always have enough gas in the tank to get where we are going! Lesson learned!
