Behind the Scenes Video - Recording My Good Night Messages - How to Sleep Well @MyGoodNightMessages.com

Behind the Scenes Video - Recording My Good Night Messages- Habits to Sleep Well with Psychoneurologist, Dr. Sylva Dvorak and Robin Palmer @ MyGoodNightMessages.com
Daytime lifestyle habits such as eating and exercise play a role in how well you sleep. Here are some recommendations to support you in getting a good night’s sleep. It’s best to have a lighter meal at night and not eat too late in the evening. Heavy, rich foods at night take longer to digest and acidic, spicy foods can cause heartburn so best to avoid these types of foods at least 2 hours before bedtime.
Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health and for a good nights rest! The nicotine in cigarettes is a stimulant and can make it harder for you to fall asleep. It can also disrupt your sleep since you could experience nicotine withdrawal at during the night. There are numerous stop-smoking programs available. Get the support you need, it really is one of the best things you can do for your health.
Exercise during the day will also help you sleep better. Regularly exercise will actually help you sleep deeper and better at night. Participate in exercise that you enjoy at least 5 times a week for 30-40 minutes such as brisk walking, swimming, and biking. What exercise do you see yourself regularly doing for 30-40 minutes? Now take a moment and envision yourself doing this exercise and how good it feels...
It’s best, if possible to exercise earlier in the day like in the morning and preferably not too late in the afternoon. Exercising late in the day can be too stimulating and keep your body awake at night. However, gentle stretching or gentle yoga poses can help to relax you before bed.
Try some of these sleep tips; you have nothing to lose and a great night’s sleep to gain. Good night. Sleep well. Enjoy the good night’s sleep you’ve been dreaming of @  MyGoodNightMessages.com

Disappointment and Disillusionment with TED - Allan Savory TEDTalk @TED2013

http://youtu.be/vpTHi7O66pI
http://youtu.be/vpTHi7O66pI

I have waited a couple of weeks after returning from TEDActive to write this post. I had hoped that my feelings of intense disappointment and disillusionment would dissipate, but they haven't. Would someone please explain the selection of Allan Savory for a TEDTalk at the 2013 TED Conference, knowing that he had systematically exterminated 40,000 majestic elephants, as a result of his incorrect hypothesis? He did not even consider minimizing his recklessness by testing his theory on a much smaller population, in a smaller area of land. He removed native people from their land, destroyed 40,000 elephants and THEN discovered he was wrong. How can this barbarian be invited to speak at TED?!

Additionally, Mr. Savory’s newest theory for solving desertification is to bring in herds of nomadic livestock to trample the land, defecating and urinating as they go. His hair brained hypothesis flies in the face of the widely accepted research about the root causes of desertification, which include global warming, unethical and short-sighted over-planting, feeding methane releasing livestock instead of adopting vegetarianism, and deforestation.

I am a foster mother to a couple of orphaned baby elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Both of them were rescued after having witnessed poachers murder their mothers for their tusks. Some of the orphans die of grief. The ones who survive are greeted and surrounded in a literal circle of love by the other orphans, trunk to tail.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is the only organization that releases orphaned elephants back into the wild. After two years of care, they are ready to return to the African wilderness. The Sheldrick graduates send a subterranean message to each other, and then arrive from miles away to “pick up” the newest member of the herd.

If Allan Savory is sincere about wanting to pay penance for his grievous crime against nature, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust needs help in every way to continue their heroic efforts. http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/

It is my fervent hope that the TED organizers would choose to invite any of the real humanitarians to speak at TED 2014. My personal list includes Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick, Dr. Jane Goodall, Ric O'Barry and the Dolphin Project, Dr. Con Slobodchikoff, to name a few. Who are the humanitarians on your list? I will gladly compile a list and forward it to Chris Anderson and Kelly Stoezel at TED.

TEDACapella Choir Sings Grateful TEDAholic @TEDActive2013 Ode to TED by Robin Palmer

I wrote this song called Grateful TEDAholic, which the TEDAcapella Choir was scheduled to sing on Friday morning on the TEDActive stage, thanks to TED and TEDActive amazing staffers, Nick, Katherine and Kelly. The choir was bumped at the last minute for a couple of TEDEd videos and we were asked to sing at the goodbye party at the pool later that day, which we did. You can't hear us singing in the pool party video very well, as we couldn't get mikes and the partiers were having fun! :) So the choir recorded the song by some nearby bushes, since so many TEDsters had enthusiastically asked to hear it. Enjoy!

If you may also be a TEDAholic, please sing along! The lyrics are below. And, who knows? Maybe next year, we can sing Grateful TEDAholic as a virtual choir! :)

Grateful TEDAholic by Robin Boudreau Palmer
When I’ve got the blues
'Don’t drown myself in booze
Take in a talk instead with TED

When I feel forlorn
Don't turn on the porn
I snuggle up instead with TED

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
I’m addicted all the way
Flew to TED from Swaziland
And now I’m here to stay

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
So glad I’m not alone
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home

And TED’s family is special - like Active, Ed and Global
Out of all of my ex’s, I love TEDx the best! (spoken -"Way!")

When I’m running scared,
Lost and unprepared
I stop and clear my head with TED

When I’m longing for a thrill
'Stead of crashing down a hill
I know I’ll be elated with TED

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
I’m addicted all the way
Flew to TED from Swaziland
And now I’m here to stay

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
So glad I’m not alone
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home.

(The Choir – from left to right -back row- John Bates, Kathy Larson, Tereza Nemessanyi, front row-Lara Pearson, Linda Ashworth and Robin Palmer. Steffi De Jong is missing, as she had to catch her flight back to France.)

Grateful TEDAholic - TEDActivist Robin Palmer Sings the Song She Wrote for TEDActive 2013 About TED

I am so happy to be participating at TEDActive 2013 for the first time this month! (http://conferences.ted.com/TEDActive2013) Wow! One of my fellow TEDActivists, Tereza Nemessanyi, had a great idea to assemble an a capella choir and sing a song or two for all of the TEDActivators there. Well, it turns out that Tereza is VERY POPULAR! She would have been the girl in high school voted as Ms. Congeniality AND most likely to succeed! So, she has now been asked to participate in several TEDActive projects and has asked me to organize what I have dubbed "The TEDAcapella Choir." Ok, I did star in Broadway musicals for 15 years, but I have never organized or directed an a capella choir before! I started looking for possible songs to sing and then this song popped out of me a couple of days ago. Now the choir members have one more song to vote on. :)
Enjoy! And if you too are a grateful TEDAholic, I've included the lyrics below, so you can sing along! And if we do sing it at TEDActive, you are welcome to join in with "The TEDAcapella Choir!" Enjoy! :)

Living in a War Zone – YouTube Video of My Song about Gun Violence & Mental Illness - for Newtown

Newtown was a different kind of "Wake Up Call" for me. I am adding my voice to the conversation and hope that you do, too, if you feel strongly about it. I believe it is time to lay our politics down when parents have had to bury six year old children with 11 bullets still lodged in their bodies. If not now, when?

Watch this YouTube video of Living in a War Zone, my song about the lethal cocktail of guns and rage.
If not now, when? If not us, who?
