TEDACapella Choir Sings Grateful TEDAholic @TEDActive2013 Ode to TED by Robin Palmer

I wrote this song called Grateful TEDAholic, which the TEDAcapella Choir was scheduled to sing on Friday morning on the TEDActive stage, thanks to TED and TEDActive amazing staffers, Nick, Katherine and Kelly. The choir was bumped at the last minute for a couple of TEDEd videos and we were asked to sing at the goodbye party at the pool later that day, which we did. You can't hear us singing in the pool party video very well, as we couldn't get mikes and the partiers were having fun! :) So the choir recorded the song by some nearby bushes, since so many TEDsters had enthusiastically asked to hear it. Enjoy!

If you may also be a TEDAholic, please sing along! The lyrics are below. And, who knows? Maybe next year, we can sing Grateful TEDAholic as a virtual choir! :)

Grateful TEDAholic by Robin Boudreau Palmer
When I’ve got the blues
'Don’t drown myself in booze
Take in a talk instead with TED

When I feel forlorn
Don't turn on the porn
I snuggle up instead with TED

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
I’m addicted all the way
Flew to TED from Swaziland
And now I’m here to stay

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
So glad I’m not alone
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home

And TED’s family is special - like Active, Ed and Global
Out of all of my ex’s, I love TEDx the best! (spoken -"Way!")

When I’m running scared,
Lost and unprepared
I stop and clear my head with TED

When I’m longing for a thrill
'Stead of crashing down a hill
I know I’ll be elated with TED

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
I’m addicted all the way
Flew to TED from Swaziland
And now I’m here to stay

I’m a grateful TEDAholic
So glad I’m not alone
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home
All your smiling faces tell me
That I finally am home.

(The Choir – from left to right -back row- John Bates, Kathy Larson, Tereza Nemessanyi, front row-Lara Pearson, Linda Ashworth and Robin Palmer. Steffi De Jong is missing, as she had to catch her flight back to France.)

IN THESE ROOMS - Lyrics and Music by Robin Boudreau Palmer

In these rooms I've watched compassion turn a child into a man
Turn cowards into heroes who laugh and sing again
In these rooms I've watched the broken become whole and walk again
And all the lonely people fill our hearts with friends.

In these rooms I found my heaven, in these rooms my share of peace
Here I met the hand of mercy that raised me from my knees

In these rooms I found a power who is greater than my own
Who turns tragedy to triumph and gives the lost a home.

In these rooms I found my heaven in these rooms my share of peace
Here I met the hand of mercy that raised me from my knees

There is a safe place, a haven you can run to
There is a home where you are free, just follow me.

Into these rooms where I found my heaven, in these rooms my share of peace
Here I met the hand of mercy that raised me from my knees
In these rooms I found salvation, in these rooms my piece of sky
Here I stand among the living when alone I stood to die

Thank you, thank you for these rooms, these rooms.
